I’ve issues with chronic back pain. I did gymnastics when I was a kid and have danced for over a decade. I’ve had procedures done before and had some relief. However, it’s great to know there are things I can do at home to help lower the pain and discomfort. Some of these techniques I did not know about. The pressure point behind the knees is one of them. I’ll try doing these to ease the discomfort. Thank you for this post. I will share with my social networks.

Comment on What It Is Like to Have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by Kassidy Dooley https://respectcaregivers.org/what-it-is-like-to-have-chronic-fatigue-syndrome/#comment-670 Sat, 03 Sep 2016 22:11:46 +0000 https://www.chronicbodypain.net/?p=7988---e336f3ed-9030-4870-96a9-c6178637b030#comment-670 Wow! I didn’t realize there were so many symptoms to Chronic Fatigue! I thought it was only tiredness, but the lack of energy and inability to sleep would make sense too. The brain fog that you were talking about, it kind of reminds me of Alzheimer’s. I think the most likely cause is that with lack of sleep, the brain begins to shut down and loses valuable functions like memory, thought process, etc. Their body might feel so much pain due to malnutrition…wonder if there are any cures for this so far?

Comment on Soft Pillows And Neck Pain by Kassidy Dooley https://respectcaregivers.org/soft-pillows-and-neck-pain/#comment-601 Sat, 03 Sep 2016 21:38:22 +0000 https://www.chronicbodypain.net/?p=5528---f8212156-d677-4265-83ba-66f7beae51a8#comment-601 This is super helpful! I am definitely going to look into the cervical pillows, because I like to sleep on my stomach a lot. And this is a habit I’ve been trying to fix for the longest time, because I always wake up with neck pain! I think it’s because I’m craning my neck to one side or the other all night long, and this causes sore muscles. It always leaves me thinking, “If only I had a matress with a hole in it that I could put my face through, like a massage bed.” Haha, then I could lay on my stomach AND keep my neck straight! Good post. 🙂

Comment on Is Depression a Disease or Illness? by Kassidy Dooley https://respectcaregivers.org/is-depression-a-disease-or-illness/#comment-634 Sat, 03 Sep 2016 21:19:29 +0000 https://www.chronicbodypain.net/?p=7761---6db1603e-9d6a-4a7e-82bd-3d36c0269086#comment-634 I completely agree! A disease is definitely something that is physically wrong with your body, such as cancer or the flu. But it is internal, something that impairs normal functions, not simply a direct result of physical injury, like a scrape on the knee. Depression, like you said, is something that ONLY takes place in your mind, and if you showed no behavior at all, it would hardly be detectable. This is something that a lot of people are confused about. Depression, I think, is almost something that could be classified in the same category as sadness, heartbreak, regret, etc. It’s just emotion, but more intense. And it can lead to some bad decisions.

Comment on Can Celiac Disease Affect Your Period? by Livy https://respectcaregivers.org/can-celiac-disease-affect-your-period/#comment-640 Sat, 03 Sep 2016 20:30:36 +0000 https://www.chronicbodypain.net/?p=7831---62f7e74b-544f-4f5c-af9e-8d2c9a414e59#comment-640 Dysmenhorrhoea is fairly common among young women especially teenagers. I can still remember how extremely painful it was for me then. I was never diagnosed with celiac disease and i found relief after my teenage years.Looking back now, a simple diet modification could have given me relief from those awful cramps then. I actually feel more research should be done on causes of menstrual problems in women.

Comment on Apple Cider Vinegar: The Miracle that Helps Your Relieve Joint Pain by Kassidy Dooley https://respectcaregivers.org/apple-cider-vinegar-the-miracle-that-helps-your-relieve-joint-pain/#comment-240 Sat, 03 Sep 2016 20:10:09 +0000 https://www.chronicbodypain.net/?p=2023---42375b03-de0a-4d74-9af4-2e63cde87ea7#comment-240 Yes! Apple Cider Vinegar is so helpful for lots of things. On occasion, I even use it in a home made mouthwash mixture, because like you said, it’s very rich in minerals and good for your teeth and gums.
I am also a big biker, so I’m constantly working the same group of muscles in my legs, which usually leads to sore knee joints and swelling. So I am super excited to try out this method! I will definitely try drinking it first, because I’ve heard that the best way to get something directly into your blood stream, is by absorbing it underneath your tongue, and through your soft palate, in the back of your throat, because of the plethora of capillaries there. Otherwise it will be degraded as it travels through your GI tract. This is good info! 🙂

Comment on Sleeping Sickness Explained: What is it? by Livy https://respectcaregivers.org/sleeping-sickness-explained-what-is-it/#comment-636 Sat, 03 Sep 2016 20:04:21 +0000 https://www.chronicbodypain.net/?p=7783---ea01338d-642b-4633-ac0d-292e9ba0be0e#comment-636 I never knew trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness) affects human beings too. I usually use it as a joke on people that sleep too much. So it actually does exist in humans and it is fatal too. I only knew it as a disease affecting cattle from my high school days. Very enlightening. Thanks for sharing.

Medications can help mask the symptoms. But, you need to strengthen your back muscles and spine for true relief. This article is a good starting point for understanding the painful condition.
